Michael Myers himself is in Michigan as ‘Halloween Kills’ opens in theaters – MLive.com

NOVI, MI – He’s currently doing his thing on the big screen as one of the most iconic horror villains in movie history. At the same time, the actor who plays Michael Myers is hanging out in Michigan the same weekend “Halloween Kills” hit theaters.
James Jude Courtney is at Michigan’s biggest and longest running comic con, Motor City Comic Con. The event runs through Sunday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. He is one of the numerous celebrity guests at the event.
Courtney played Myers in the 2018 film, “Halloween,” the 2021 movie which came out this weekend and will be back one more time in the 2022 sequel, “Halloween Ends.”
“We shoot “Halloween Ends” starting in January, assuming IATSE does not strike. If they do, we’ll shoot it when the strike ends, and that will come out in October 2022,” Courtney told MLive as you can see in the video interview at the top of this story.
Courtney says he never puts on the Michael Myers mask unless he’s filming a scene for a “Halloween” movie.
“I don’t put the mask on except for my work. What happens to me when I put that mask on is not something I think most people would want to be around. I mean, seriously, I go to a dark place when I put that mask on.”
Courtney is also known for his stunt work. He says some of the stunts in the “Halloween” movies were some of his most challenging.
“These fire gags are pretty brutal. Extremely dangerous fire. Fire has a will of its own and I think it’s why firefighters have been so attracted to this film. I’ve met tons of firefighters since the trailer’s been coming out and they’re really, really enamored with it and I think the reason is, they understand more than anybody just how unpredictable fire is. It’s hot, burning hot, right away the whole time. It’s painful.”
Motor City Comic Con runs through Sunday, October 17. Other celebrities in attendance include: Elijah Wood (”Lord of the Rings”), Alexander Ludwig (“Hunger Games”), Ice-T and Coco, Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad,” “The Mandalorian,” “The Boys”), Gaten Matarazzo (“Stranger Things”), Joey Fatone (NSYNC), Antony Starr (”The Boys”), Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel), Meat Loaf, Tom Welling (“Smallville”) and more.
