Last
autumn, the First Minister launched a "national conversation" on Scotland's
future.
Although it seems unlikely that any church will want to make a categoric
statement for or against Scottish independence, the SCPO believes that the
churches' voice should be heard in any national conversation on our future. We
have therefore produced some material to help congregations and groups play
their part in this conversation. To download this discussion material

Any congregation or group can take part in the
conversation using this material. We are planning to hold a national conference
in the spring (probably early May) to gather reports from local groups, and
these groups can also feed directly into the national conversation online (www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/a-national-conversation/Tell-us).
All churches are being encouraged to participate, and you may wish to suggest an
ecumenical group locally to look at this; the spring conference will certainly
be ecumenical.
Our
hope is that the range of voices within the churches will be part of this
conversation; with your help we can ensure that voice comes from all parts of
the church across Scotland.
