Parliamentary Committees
The
membership of the new Parliamentary Committees has been agreed, with some
changes made in the name or function of Committees, bringing them into line
with ministerial portfolios. The major change has been the division of
Transport and Environment to two existing committees – with Transport
joined to Local Government and the Environment coupled with Rural
Development, reducing the number of Committees to 16.
While
this move meant (by the complex formula which determines the allocation of
these) that the Greens lost out on a convenership, they secured a deputy
convenership (of Environment & Rural Development); so did the Scottish
Socialists, but they decided not to take up the deputy convenership of the
Subordinate Legislation Committee.
