    Chloe Clemmons

    Scottish Churches Parliamentary Officer

I have been the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Officer since March 2009 where my work includes providing advice and practical help for churches and Christian organisations to get involved with the Scottish and Westminster Parliaments. I have previously worked in a variety of third sector organisations in development and policy roles with a focus on access to justice and law reform. Most recently that involved working at Citizens Advice Scotland developing legal advice services and policy. Previous posts include developing international projects for the exchange of expertise between civil society organisations at British Council Scotland and providing information and training about human rights law to the third sector.

My academic background is an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and a Masters in Human Rights.

I am a member of a Church of Scotland congregation, St Philips Joppa.

    Shona Fisher

    Research Officer

I’ve been working at the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office since September 2007, initially part-time as Research Assistant before moving on to the full-time role of Research Officer in 2008. Most of my work revolves around the monthly Update we produce, along with our briefings and interviews; with my focus being on business at Westminster, in the Scottish Parliament Chamber and some of the Parliamentary Committees including Education and Lifelong Learning, Public Audit and Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change.

Prior to joining SCPO, I graduated from Bradford University with a degree in Development and Peace Studies in 2004, then worked in the areas of global citizenship education and youth work with Christian Aid, Mercy Corps, the Presbytery of Glasgow, and an anti-sectarianism project, ‘Education for Mutual Understanding’.

    Alison Bennett

    Administrative & Research Officer

Having graduated with an honours degree in Politics and History from the University of Strathclyde in 2008, I started working in the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office in January 2009. I'm originally from Gourock, on the west coast of Scotland, but have relocated to Edinburgh. I'm currently studying for a MSc in Policy Studies at the University of Edinburgh in the evenings and when I have any free time I enjoy going to the gym, singing, attempting to learn guitar, and reading. (not all at the same time!)

I carry out all of the admin functions in the office, and will be able to help if you need advice on the practicalities of contacting MPs, MSPs and Government Ministers. My areas of knowledge for research include the Scottish Parliament Committees on: Justice, Health & Sport, Local Government & Communities, Equal Opportunities, Rural Affairs & the Environment and Public Petitions.
