The SCPO produces regular Parliamentary Updates and Briefing
Papers on topics of interest to Scottish Churches. These are
distributed to around 600 email addresses, with user feedback
indicating that many of our readers pass on our work to
others. These publications are intended to provide unbiased
reporting of Parliamentary activity and are used in a variety of
ways by our readers. Whether for personal or professional
interest, for reflection or as a campaigning tool; the SCPO Updates
and Briefing Papers have a wide range of readers including
professional church employees, clergy, voluntary sector
professionals, interested individuals, Parliamentary and civil
service staff, and elected representatives.

The SCPO Update is the key tool for keeping on top of the
Parliamentary process - it tells me what consultations are current
and when they come to an end; it gives me an overview of the
legislation which isn't part of my core work but which is handy to
know about; it allows me to check that I haven't missed anything I
should have picked up. I can pass things on to others who I
know are interested in particular topics. And I always find
the interviews with key figures interesting and
illuminating.

I find the SCPO Briefing Papers very helpful and useful, as
they lay out just what is being proposed, clearly stated - more
help than the way such subjects are often reported in the press or
media in general. I use SCPO Briefing Papers to better enable
me to discuss issues with people and possibly make helpful comments
in sermons to help others to think through issues.

The SCPO updates have made me realise what a lot of diverse
issues are actually discussed in Parliament, both Holyrood and
Westminster. While I don't read every single link there are
certain topics which are of particular interest to me due to the
voluntary work I do in the community. Therefore those articles are
read and information is then passed on to others in the group which
helps us to plan, as well as finding out which MPs and MSPs might
be sympathetic to our work and could be approached for help and
advice.
